Introduction

Welcome to MawaqitGo. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you about how we look after your personal data when you use our website and our mobile app, and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

The Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

• Location Data: We use your IP address or browser geolocation (with your permission) to provide accurate prayer times for your specific location. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored permanently on our servers unless you explicitly save a location.
• Usage Data: Includes information about how you use our website, products and services.
• Technical Data: Includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.

How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

• To provide prayer times and weather information specific to your location.
• To internalize and improve our website's performance and user experience.
• To comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.

MawaqitGo Mobile App

The sections above describe how we handle data on our website. Our MawaqitGo app for Android and iOS processes the following data:

• Location & prayer times: With your permission, the app uses your device's location. To give you official times for where you are, the app sends your coordinates (with your timezone, the date range, your Asr school and, if elevation correction is on, your altitude) to MawaqitGo's prayer-times service at api.mawaqitgo.net. No account or device identifier is sent with them. We use them only to calculate your times — we don't store them, link them to you, or share them with advertisers. Our service keeps only area-level results (about a 1 km grid cell, e.g. its timezone and horizon) with no link to you or to when you asked. When you pick a calculation method yourself, or you are offline, times are calculated on your device and nothing is sent.
• City name & search: To show your city and country, the app asks your phone's built-in geocoder (Google on Android, Apple on iOS) to name your coordinates; city searches you type go to the same service. Your country also picks local announcements and the default Qur'an script.
• Daily content, Qur'an audio & translations: The daily feed is fetched from api.mawaqitgo.net using your language and the date. Qur'an recitation streams from audio.mawaqitgo.net, which sees which verse is playing. The Arabic Qur'an text and the English translation are bundled in the app and work offline; translations in other languages are downloaded from audio.mawaqitgo.net only when you choose one, and then work offline too. If you report a translation issue, the report (verse, translation, version and your message) is stored with your other feedback, and we may forward the verse, translation and your note to the translation's publisher, QuranEnc.com, without your contact details. As with any internet request, our servers see your IP address; rate limiting keeps it only briefly in a counter that expires automatically.
• Analytics & diagnostics: We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used (for example screen views, taps, marking a prayer, setting a city, sign-in, Premium screens and ad impressions). It records a pseudonymous app-instance ID, your advertising ID (on iOS only if you allow tracking), device information and an approximate location Google derives from your IP address. It never receives your coordinates, which prayers you pray or their times, or your account ID. Analytics runs in released versions of the app and is not tied to the ad-consent choice. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports and diagnostic logs; they are not linked to your account. Firebase Remote Config receives a Firebase installation ID and app/device details each launch so we can adjust app settings remotely.
• Advertising: The app uses Google AdMob / Ad Manager to show ads to non-Premium users. Google receives your advertising ID, IP address and device information to serve and measure ads. The app never passes your location, prayer data or keywords to ads; ads are limited to a family-safe (G) rating and are never shown beside Qur'an or hadith. Where required (EEA/UK/Switzerland) we ask for consent first, and on iOS your advertising ID is only available if you allow tracking. You can reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings.
• Account & backup: Sign-in is optional. If you sign in with Google or Apple, Firebase Authentication receives your account ID, email and name, and Firebase Firestore (EU region) stores a backup so your data follows you to a new device: your prayer log, dhikr totals and streak, your settings (calculation method, Asr school, time corrections, high-latitude rule, theme, Hijri offset, time format, adhan on/off), your display name, the city you chose by hand (its name and coordinates), whether auto-detect is on, and your last-read surah and verse. Saved items are not backed up, and your GPS location history is never stored. The backup runs when you sign in, when the app goes to the background (Android), and before you sign out.
• Feedback: If you send feedback from the app, we store your category, message, an optional screenshot and an optional contact email, plus diagnostics: app version, device make and model, OS version, language, device timezone, Premium and signed-in status, calculation method and auto-detect setting (iOS also includes the device name). On Android, if you are signed in, your email is pre-filled and the feedback is linked to your account ID. Feedback never includes your coordinates or prayer history.
• Purchases: If you upgrade to Premium — a subscription plan or a one-time (lifetime) purchase — it is processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store and managed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID (or your account ID if you are signed in) and your purchase receipts; we receive your Premium status, never your card details.
• Notifications & widget: With your permission, the app schedules prayer, reminder, and streak notifications on your device, and the home-screen widget is drawn on your device. No data leaves your device for this, and we use no push tokens.

Deleting your data. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete account and data), or by emailing a request to support@mawaqitgo.net. This deletes your cloud backup, the feedback linked to your account, and the account itself, and then wipes the app's data on your phone. Some records are not deleted: pseudonymous analytics and crash data held by Google (kept under Google's retention settings), purchase records held by RevenueCat and the app stores (needed for purchase and legal records), and feedback sent from iOS, which is not linked to your account. Who processes what.

• Cloudflare — hosts MawaqitGo's prayer-times, content and audio services (sees your IP address and the requests above).
• GeoNames and OpenTopoData — when our service has not seen your area before, it sends them your coordinates rounded to about 100 m to look up the timezone (GeoNames) and, for elevation correction, the terrain height (OpenTopoData). Nothing that identifies you is sent.
• Google or Apple geocoding — your phone's geocoder turns coordinates into a city name and handles city searches.
• Google — Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Authentication, Firestore, AdMob / Ad Manager, Google Sign-In and Google Play Billing.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and the iOS tracking permission.
• RevenueCat — manages Premium purchases.

Each processes data under its own privacy terms.

Google AdSense and Cookies

We use Google AdSense to serve ads when you visit our website. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed.
